Halfmoon Bay Performing Arts opens a 6th year.

Elaine Hunter has taught jazz, ballet, tap, musical theatre for over 40 years. She owned her own successful school in Ottawa for 31 years. Elaine danced from the age for 3 in her families dance school. She studied to become a public school teacher and taught in Surrey BC . When  she moved to Ottawa. which was for her husbands job relocation, she began to teach dance and her school grew to 600 students within 4 years. Her students performed on Parliament Hill , Canada Day for many years and were part of the televised show in 1993. Elaine's students competed winning hundreds of awards over many years, 1986 - 2006. Elaine received many top choreography and high score awards during this time. Her students travelled to Shanghai China on 3 occasions to represent Canada at the Shanghai International Children's Cultural and Arts Festival, she also taught at the Children's Palace in Shanghai. Elaine was a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of  Dance and her students passed their exams each year. She was also a full member of the Canadian Dance Teachers Association for jazz and tap. Since selling her school in Ottawa and moving to the Sunshine Coast she has taught at the Coast Academy of Dance before beginning her own intimate school in Halfmoon Bay. Elaine loves providing quality dance classes for the community at affordable prices.

Monday 1 30...Pre Dance ...45 minutes
Monday 2 35...Ballet/Jazz mini (4/5 - 7 yrs)...45 minutes
Monday 3 20...Group Voice Class                                   

Monday classes will be on Wednesdays when there is a PD Day.

Tuesday 2 40...Ballet/Jazz junior 2, 1.5 hours. 
Tuesday 4 10...Tap

Thursday 2 40...Ballet/Jazz junior 3, 1.5 hours.
Thursday 4 10...Musical Theatre, Voice and Dance.

Pre dance 3 - 5yrs year one... day and time to be decided. Possible  Mon or Tues 11 am or 1 30 pm.

The junior ballet and jazz classes will do a routine together, a ballet production as well as their own routines this year. 

Also I would like to do some solo and duet dance routines. We need to begin them early in the year so that students can rehearse them.

No make-up classes for bad weather cancellations.

Dance and Sing 2015

All rehearsal at Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons.:
1.Set design / tech rehearsal  Wednesday  June 10th 4 pm .
2.Stage rehearsal Thursday June 11th  3 pm - 6 pm  ALL (dancers will leave as they are finished rehearsing their routines)
3. Dress rehearsal Friday 12th June 2 30pm -  5 30 pm. pre dance finished at 3 30 pm

Show June 13th 2 30 pm dancers arrive at 1.00pm for cats make up or 1.30 pm if you are not a cat.

IMPORTANT
We will need a clean up team for Satuday at the end of the show. 6 parents please.
I would like a parent in the sound / lighting booth to be sure things go smoothly.

Welcome to 2015.... lots going on.

Welcome to the New Year...2015,

Lots of exciting things going on.

We will be working hard on our choreographies for the year end show.

June  .... second week... dates to be confirmed.

Some classes are full this year but if you want to join us please call me to see if we have a space for you.

Jazz and ballet combination classes for ages:

Private voice and performance classes. Please call to book your time. 45 minute sessions. Students will sing a solo in the year end show ( if they would like to) and some will be in the Pender Harbour Shows, Apple Festival, Christmas Concerts, Telethon etc.

THE FUTURE

I want to prepare students so that they can become part of the Nutcracker if they want to.
I hope that some of the dancers went to see the 2014 production and realised that there is a lot to learn to become part of such a production. I am ready to help any of our students prepare for a successful audition. There are parts for younger dancers who do not require a great deal of technique but then there are parts that we should aim for which do require more technique.
